About West Coast Wandering

For years we have been watching others produce amazing YouTube content. I have often said, I should do that!

My name is Scott Van Achte and In 2026 my wife convinced me to give it a try. started with brainstorming a suitable name that would match the type of videos I would produce. I came up with West Coast Wandering.

My video skills, both when it comes to filming and editing are slim to none. Armed with a GoPro Hero 13, an Insta 360 GO, and an iPhone 17, I decided to see what I could create.

We live in the most beautiful place on earth - the Comox Valley. Located on central Vancouver Island, I have quick access to a vast selection of outdoor opportunities including hiking, biking, fishing, skiing, boating, camping, and just general exploring.

My goal here is to have fun. TO create what will hopefully be some interesting and informative videos, and to simply have a creative outlet where I can experiment and play with creating content.

My ambitions are small. I have no major goals of earning a living as a content creator or becoming an inflencer. Should that happen I would gladly accept it, but that is not the goal. The goal is a creative hobby.
